Fatal six-car accident in Virginia still under investigation

Because there are so many vehicles traveling Virginia's roadways, one driver's actions can easily create a domino effect of problems for other drivers. It is in this way that an auto accident that initially only involves one or two vehicles can turn into a deadly multi-car pileup. While it can be difficult to make the determination of fault in any car crash, the investigation can be even more complicated when several different cars and drivers are involved.

Just before midnight on a recent Saturday night, six cars were involved in a collision on I-64 East in Virginia. At least one fatality resulted from the crash: an 18-year-old girl from Virginia was killed. She had been a passenger in one of the vehicles involved in the crash. The accident investigation is ongoing and includes crash reconstruction efforts. Police are currently looking for people who witnessed the accident in an effort to aid the investigation.

Although many Virginia drivers think that their financial interests are protected by the state laws requiring drivers to have insurance, the reality is that many drivers do not carry insurance or are not adequately insured. The minimum coverages required by law may be quite low depending on the nature of the accident and the damages caused. Especially when one person is deemed at fault for a multi-car accident, the insurance coverage is often insufficient to compensate all the injured parties for the property damage and injuries suffered.

A car accident like this can be devastating and it can be very difficult to recover, both physically and financially. Filing a personal injury lawsuit may be the only way to get the compensation that victims need and deserve in order to cover their medical expenses and losses. Without the financial compensation, it may be difficult - if not impossible - for victims to move forward with their lives. Attorneys experienced in dealing with car accident cases can help a plaintiff in many ways, including determining fault, defending against allegations of contributory fault, and quantifying damages.
