Fatal truck accident outside school involves woman and dump truck

Although neighborhood and residential streets are often less trafficked than larger roads and interstates, they are nevertheless the site of frequent accidents. Many of these accidents involve children, pedestrians or people getting into and out of their cars. The presence of moving trucks, garbage trucks and other large vehicles on these smaller roads can also increase the likelihood of a truck accident because space and visibility may be limited.

A recent accident in Arlington, not far from Fairfax, Virginia, involved a dump truck and a woman who was placing her child in her vehicle. The accident occurred mid-morning on a Monday just outside of a school. The dump truck hit the 39-year-old woman, causing serious injuries that required her to be taken to Fairfax hospital. Unfortunately, she later died while at the hospital. Police are still investigating the accident to determine exactly what happened.

When a large vehicle like a commercial truck is involved in an accident involving a person or someone in a vehicle, the potential for serious injuries and death is great. The size of the truck and the force of its load can cause even a minor collision to produce serious damage. For these reasons, it is very important that drivers of such commercial trucks pay extra attention and exercise due care. Negligence or a failure to notice people or objects near the truck can prove deadly.

When Virginia residents are injured in an accident involving a commercial truck, they need to move quickly to investigate what happened and find out who is deemed at fault. It can be difficult to worry about these details in the aftermath of an accident, so working with an experienced attorney can simplify the process. In many cases, if the driver of the truck was negligent or reckless, liability may extend to the truck company. This can be an important aspect of a personal liability case because it can increase the plaintiff's chances of recovery.
