Mr. Surovell is also a frequent lecturer in continuing legal education classes of other attorneys and judges on the subjects of criminal, personal injury, and family law.

Mr. Surovell is a State Senator representing the 36th Senatorial District covering Fairfax, Prince William and Stafford Counties and serves on the General Laws & Technology Committee, Rehabilitation and Social Services Committee, and the Local Government Committee.  He was a member of the Virginia House of Delegates from 2009-2015 representing the Mt. Vernon area of Fairfax County and served as Caucus Chairman in 2014. He was also appointed to a Governor’s Fellowship by Governor L. Douglas Wilder in 1993. Mr. Surovell is also active in the broader Northern Virginia community as well serving with numerous legal and charitable committees, commissions and community organizations over the last two decades.

Mr. Surovell litigated a case to the largest personal injury verdict in the history of Fairfax County. He has also represented clients in noteworthy Slayer Statute and property rights disputes, deaths caused by texting while driving, and is an aggressive advocate for the principles set forth in the Virginia Declaration of Rights and United States Bill of Rights in criminal prosecutions.

Mr. Surovell is a Fairfax County native and graduate of West Potomac High School. He lives in Mount Vernon, Virginia with his wife Erinn Madden and four children where he enjoys spending time with his children, hiking, and is an avid cyclist who rode his bike 4,200 miles across the United States.
