Lily Saffer graduated cum laude from Wellesley College in 2010, and graduated from William & Mary School of Law in 2013. While attending William & Mary, Ms. Saffer participated in the Domestic Violence Clinic and Special Education Advocacy Clinic, and was a member and eventual President of the school's Children's Advocacy Law Society. Ms. Saffer spent both her summers in law school interning full-time with legal aid organizations, Virginia Legal Aid Society in Farmville and Legal Aid Justice Center in Richmond.

After law school Ms. Saffer served as a law clerk in the Fairfax County Circuit Court for two years, first for Chief Judge Dennis J. Smith until his retirement, then for Judge Penney Azcarate for her first several weeks on the bench. Ms. Saffer joined the firm at the conclusion of her clerkship in 2015.

A Seattle native, Ms. Saffer now lives in Fairfax City. In her spare time she sings and plays keyboard in a band.
