Kimberly A. Skiba-Rokosky

Kimberly A. Skiba-Rokosky joined our firm in May 2015, after relocating from the Richmond, Virginia metropolitan area.  Prior to joining Surovell Isaacs Petersen & Levy, Ms. Skiba-Rokosky was a partner at Owen & Owens PLC, where she focused her practice on family law and estate planning, estate administration (probate), and litigation involving estate and trust matters.  Kimberly has been licensed to practice law in the Commonwealth of Virginia since 2006, and has been practicing family law the entire time.  Even prior to beginning law school, she worked in family law, serving as a paralegal for a small law office in Massachusetts.  Throughout her legal career, Ms. Skiba-Rokosky has dedicated herself to providing zealous representation for, and outstanding customer service to, her family law and estate clients.

Ms. Skiba-Rokosky is a native of Piscataway, New Jersey.  She earned a Bachelor of Arts summa cum laude with distinction from Boston University in 2002.  In 2003, Kimberly moved to Richmond, Virginia to attend law school at The T.C. Williams School of Law of the University of Richmond.  She earned her Juris Doctorate in 2006 and immediately began practicing family law with a small firm for which she had clerked during law school.

Throughout her legal career, Kimberly has been actively involved in the legal community by participating in bar associations, authoring legal publications, and speaking at continuing legal education programs.   From 2006 until she left Richmond, Ms. Skiba-Rokosky held various positions with the Metropolitan Richmond Women's Bar Association and was slated to become its President for the 2015-2016 bar year prior to her relocation.  Kimberly was also an active member of the Metropolitan Richmond Family Law Bar Association and the Richmond Bar Association.  At present, Ms. Skiba-Rokosky is a member of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, the Family Law Section of the Virginia State Bar, and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys.  She looks forward to becoming more involved in the local bar associations.

Since law school, Kimberly has authored several legal publications, including the update to the chapter on family law in The Virginia Lawyer:  A Deskbook for Practitioners.  She has also lectured at seminars for other attorneys and for paralegals on topics in areas of family law and estate planning and related matters.

Both for her work in and outside the courtroom, Ms. Skiba-Rokosky is well-respected by her peers.  Kimberly has achieved Martindale-Hubbell's highest AV Preeminent rating for legal ability and ethical standards.  In 2012, she was the first recipient of the Richmond Bar Association's "Young Lawyer of the Year" Award, which was established in 2011 to honor a member who has excelled in the practice of law and has shown potential to be a leader in the profession.  Since 2011, she has been selected annually for "Virginia Super Lawyers Rising Stars" in the category of family law.
